Another Presidential Media Chat Set For Tomorrow, Sunday 4th May, 2014

Another edition of the Presidential Media Chat will be broadcast live on the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Voice of Nigeria (VON) at 7pm tomorrow, Sunday, May 4, 2014.

During the programme, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will respond to questions from a panel of journalists and media executives on current national issues and developments.

Members of the public who have particular issues they will like President Jonathan to address are also invited to send their questions via twitter to @mediachatng1.

U.S offers to help Nigeria in hunt for abducted girls

The United States has offered to help Nigeria in the search for the over 200 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram men on April 14th.

“We have been engaged with the Nigerian government in discussions on what we might do to help support their efforts to find and free these young women,” State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf told a daily briefing. “We will continue to have those discussions and help in any way we can.”

Harf did not elaborate on the kind of assistance Washington is offering, but said: “We know Boko Haram is active in the area and we have worked very closely with the Nigerian government to build their capacity to fight this threat.”

PRESIDENT GOODLUCK`S WORKERS DAY SPEECH

President Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday, faulted the World Bank report which placed Nigeria among the five poorest countries in the world, saying “the nation is not poor.’’

Addressing workers at the May Day rally held at the Eagle Square, Abuja, the President said “the challenge of the country is not poverty, but redistribution of wealth.’’

He said that the realities on ground did not portray the country as a poor nation, but a nation which abundant wealth needed to be evenly redistributed.

The President added that his administration was working assiduously and putting policies in place to ensure that Nigerians had access to financial resources to create wealth for themselves.

Eden Hazard appeared to question Jose Mourinho’s strategy after Wednesday night’s Champions League semi-final exit when he was quoted on French television as saying that Chelsea were “not made to play football”.

Mourinho was adamant after the 3-1 defeat that Chelsea have had a successful season but his comments became partially overshadowed by Hazard’s interview with beIN SPORTS, a television station that, like Paris St-German, is Qatari-owned. 

Labour leaders have failed to demand good governance for Nigerians – Amaechi

PORT HARCOURT -  GOVERNOR Chibuike Amaechi Thursday lashed at labour unions in the country for seemingly doing noting to fight for a better Nigeria.

The governor who spoke at a May Day rally in Port Harcourt said labour unions knew the problems confronting the country but were running away from the solution.
