Ripples of Hurricane Sandy may hit Lagos – Commissioner

The Lagos state government has raised concerns over the imminent ripple effect of the Hurricane Sandy that hit the United States of America and the Caribbean.

At a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Waterfront and Infrastructure Development, Segun Oniru said experience has shown that whenever hurricane, cyclone or other natural disasters occurred on the American shore, the ripple effects were always felt in Lagos within seven and 14 days period.

Patience Jonathan arrives, says ‘I’m happy to be back’

Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan Wednesday afternoon returned to Nigeria from Germany where she was hospitalized for several weeks for an undisclosed ailment.

Dame Jonathan arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, on a presidential jet at about 4 pm. She was received by some top government functionaries, wives of governors, some Peoples Democratic Party chieftains and other well-wishers.

Ondo Guber: Akeredolu loses to Mimiko in own ward

Results that emerged from Ondo State Governorship election have shown that the incumbent governor and Labour Party candidate, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has defeated his arch rival, Rotimi Akeredolu of the Action Congress of Nigeria in  Akeredolu’s ward.

ACN governorship candidate Rotimi Akeredolu was  defeated in his GRA unit 6 Owo. He scored 139 votes, while Mimiko got 144 votes. Details later.
