Eid-El-Maulud: FG declares Jan. 24 as public holiday



Abuja – The Federal Government has declared Thursday, Jan. 24, as public holiday to commemorate the Muslim celebration of Eid-El-Maulud. 
The Minister of Interior, Mr Abba Moro, made the announcement in Abuja on Friday, in a statement signed by Mr Adetayo Sode, the Director of Citizenship and Business in the ministry. 
Moro, who congratulated Muslims on the occasion, urged them to use the occasion to pray for sustained efforts to uplift the nation. 
He also urged Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the peace and unity of the country. (NAN)

Okonjo-Iweala mother’s kidnapper arraigned, remanded in prison


ONE of the suspected kidnappers of the mother of the Minister of Finance, @Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Professor Kamene Okonjo was yesterday arraigned before an Asaba Chief Magistrate’s court on a 4-count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery and kidnapping.
The suspect, William Omenma, aged 30 years was arraigned before Chief Magistrate court 1, presided over by Chief Magistrate Grade One, Mr.  Sylvester Ehikwe.
